The "fourth" Honda Fit compact hatchback debuted in Tokyo (in a number of Jazz markets). The car gets a new Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system, in which an internal combustion engine assists two electric motors instead of one of the previous generation hybrids. This installation is now labeled e:HEV. Other engines will be announced later, their range depends on the market. We already know that in Europe the Fit (Jazz) will only be a hybrid.

Compared to its predecessor, the design has become cleaner and simpler. However, designers pay attention not to the general lines, but to the details. For example, the front pillar has a modified section, which improves visibility. However, this did not affect her health.

The manufacturer does not indicate the dimensions, but the interior of the new Fit is clearly not narrower than the previous one. And it looks wider due to the flat top surface of the front panel and the prevailing horizontal lines in the layout.

The new Fit will be available in five trim levels: Basic, Crosstar, Home, Luxe and Ness.

Various versions of the five-door model differ in external layout and interior decoration. So, in the Home modification, a steering wheel made of genuine leather and “natural” new materials appears, Ness and Crosstar add water-repellent seat upholstery and a soft part of the front panel, and in the apartment the seats are covered with genuine leather. Crosstar and Luxe are equipped with 16-inch wheels. In addition, the Luxe gets platinum-hued chrome accents on the outside.

The Luxe interior shown is arguably the most fun due to the brown accents. Incidentally, the Fit is the first Honda to feature a new generation of “body-stabilizing” front seats that reduce fatigue on long journeys.

An improved set of Honda Sensing security systems can please buyers of all versions (only in the basic version there will be a choice: without this kit and with it). Combining the readings of the front wide-angle camera and eight sonars, the system responds better than before to the external environment. Short distance auto stop function will appear. For example, when maneuvering in a parking lot, if the driver does not see an obstacle, the car will stop or at least reduce the damage.

Hybrid Fit e: HEV, unlike its predecessor, is capable of running on electricity only over a wider range of speeds, the internal combustion engine can be started as a generator to recharge the battery. At high speed, the internal combustion engine now drives the wheels directly.

The vehicle is the first to feature a new version of the Honda Connect communication module and related services. Together with Fit in Japan, the company launched the new Honda Total Care Premium program, which includes remote control of a number of car functions from a smartphone, an emergency service that connects the car to an emergency center, and an emergency response service that automatically sends a security guard to the car if the electronics detect emergency situation. The new model will appear in the home market in February 2020, and in Europe in the summer of the same year.
